Physical fitness refers to the ability of a person to perform physical activities throughout time. In addition, physical fitness enables a person to perform a specific intensive action such as lifting heavy weights in short periods of time. Good physical fitness improves health and in numerous researches conducted around the world it was proven beyond a doubt that regular physical workouts can assist in the prevention of heart disease, cancer, respiratory diseases, metabolic disease such as diabetes, high cholesterol and a significant loss of weight in addition to strengthening of all body systems. It is recommended to exercise at least 3 times a week. For advanced trainees it is recommended to train five times a week in different difficulty levels and different duration.
All groups of muscles are active during rowing, including leg muscles (for example quadriceps femoris, gastrocnemius), abdomen muscles, back muscles (latissimus dorsi, erector spinae, rhomboids) and arm muscles. Rowing improves endurance and blood circulation, balance, flexibility and muscle strength. The range of motion is fixed and repetitive without shocks - which prevents bone fracture, sprains, and pulled muscles. At the same time, stress can be caused to joints especially due to wrong techniques. |
